As part of its Gender-Focused Action Plan, Green Gold Forestry (GGF) carried out the Comprehensive Workshop for Women: Personal and Community Empowerment, Time Management, Stress Management, Professional Development and Support Networks, aimed at women from the Native Community of Solterito, located in the Marañón River basin, in the Loreto region.
The workshop, held on October 29, 30 and 31, brought together 14 women between the ages of 17 and 65, who actively participated in hands-on activities designed to strengthen self-esteem, emotional management, time organization and professional projection.
The sessions were led by specialists from Training QHESS, a company recognized for its participatory, human-development-oriented methodologies. GGF’s Community Relations team accompanied the entire process, from outreach and coordination with local authorities to the follow-up with participants.
A methodology centered on women’s well-being
The workshop applied guidelines from GGF’s Manual of Social Intervention Strategies with a Child-Centered Approach, promoting a parallel space of playful activities for girls and boys. This allowed mothers to participate continuously, reducing barriers related to time and childcare.
Throughout the sessions, participants strengthened their self-esteem and self-awareness, identified limiting beliefs, and explored strategies to manage stress and organize their time more effectively. They also reflected on women’s leadership, sorority, and the importance of empathetic communication for coexistence and community strengthening. As part of their personal projection, they created their own life trees and dream maps, where they visualized educational, family, and professional goals.
The results showed a greater recognition of women’s personal and community potential, as well as strengthened leadership within community spaces. Several participants expressed interest in resuming technical studies or accessing new training opportunities. The process also consolidated support networks among women, reinforcing collaboration, active listening and mutual trust. The workshop generated an atmosphere of sorority that enabled sustained participation throughout the three days.
“I want to thank you for giving us the opportunity to become empowered women, to help us understand that we have great value, that we can do it, and that we are worthy women. You have shown us that we can also lead and pursue our dreams. I enjoyed all the topics very much. We want to keep learning,” said one of the participants.
Training for the GGF team
With the goal of replicating this experience in other allied communities, GGF’s Community Relations team received specialized training in community facilitation for workshops aimed at women, delivered by Training QHESS. This training enabled the GGF team —led by Community Relations Manager Paula Diaz— to obtain certification as facilitators of the methodology, which will allow the program to expand to communities in the Napo and Marañón areas in the coming months.
Institutional commitment
For GGF, this initiative represents a decisive step in reducing educational and leadership gaps among women in Amazonian communities. The training provided to the women of the Native Community of Solterito marks the beginning of a process that will continue next year, with the creation of new spaces to strengthen their skills in educational and professional contexts.
Likewise, the company plans to replicate and expand this workshop in 2026 in other communities along the Marañón and Napo rivers, reaffirming its commitment to gender equity and local development in support of forest conservation.
