Green Gold Forestry (GGF) participated in Peru Carbon Forum 2026, the country’s leading event on carbon markets and climate action, held on 27–28 May in Lima. The forum brought together leaders, experts, companies, organizations, communities and decision-makers to promote sustainable solutions to climate change challenges, addressing key topics such as climate finance, innovation and carbon markets.
Contributing to climate dialogue
During the forum, Gareth Hughes, CEO of GGF, took part as a panellist in the session “Carbon projects in forest concessions (REDD+, IFM and Others) and their role in generating bio-business opportunities”. He shared the company’s experience in developing carbon projects as enablers of other sustainable bio-business initiatives, such as aguaje value chains. He also highlighted the importance of diversifying conservation-linked economic opportunities and strengthening partnerships between the private sector, local communities and public institutions to generate long-term environmental and social impacts.
Meanwhile, Raúl Dancé, GGF’s Operations Manager, led the side event “Trends and experiences in carbon projects across latin america”, where he presented the company’s experience in developing Improved Forest Management (IFM) projects in Peru. He also discussed the main challenges and key success factors influencing the viability of forestry and carbon projects in the Amazon region.
Showcasing work in the Peruvian Amazon
As part of its participation, GGF hosted an information stand where it showcased the progress of its forest carbon projects and the initiatives it develops in partnership with Indigenous communities located in the Napo and Marañón river basins in the Loreto region.
The stand provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of the company’s work in the Amazon, highlighting forest conservation, the generation of climate benefits and the strengthening of sustainable livelihood opportunities for local communities.
GGF’s participation was accompanied by representatives from the Indigenous communities of Villa Monte Alegre and Chambira, who shared their experiences and showcased products from community-based enterprises that contribute to improving family livelihoods and stimulating local economic development.
Commitment to climate action
Green Gold Forestry’s participation in Peru Carbon Forum 2026 reaffirms its commitment to the conservation of Amazonian forests and the development of climate solutions that generate both environmental and social benefits.
In line with this commitment, GGF will offset the carbon footprint generated by the event through carbon credits from the Green Gold Loreto 1 (GGL1) project. This action will help neutralise the emissions associated with the forum and demonstrates that climate action goes beyond dialogue, translating into concrete and verifiable measures that contribute to building a more sustainable, low-carbon future.
