Mrs. Estela Piño and Mr. Caleb Chávez get up early every day at 5:00am to prepare breakfast to sell in the morning. At midday and in the evening, they visit their neighbours to buy animals for lunch and dinner. As a result of the “Sustainable Management of Forest Concessions” project, the presence of the GGF team in the San Luis de Tacsha village centre has increased, which has also increased the frequency with which Estela and Caleb’s services are contracted.
The GGF social team spoke with the married couple and they said, “We want them (GGF) to find a better place to take care of them every time they come, and we are thinking of making accommodation for them so that they can also stay”. This comment shows the villagers’ desire for self-improvement and motivation, knowing that the presence of GGF in the area will generate the demand for goods and services that can be covered by the local people, generating economic income for their families. They are part of the group of eleven (11) villagers who will participate in the supplier formalisation activity promoted by GGF.
The event:
As part of the activities that Green Gold Forestry (GGF) has been carrying out with the communities in the direct area of influence of the “Sustainable management of forest concessions” project, the process of formalising suppliers began on August 24th. The process began with a meeting in the village of San Luis de Tacsha Curaray, where a group of villagers who frequently provide goods and services to the GGF company were brought together. At this meeting, the company’s social team explained in more detail the objectives and benefits of the tax formalisation process and the mechanisms necessary to achieve it. It was also explained in detail that all logistical costs would be covered by GGF.
On September 6th, after prior coordination, 11 villagers from the San Luis de Tacsha[1] settlement and surrounding communities were transferred to the city of Iquitos to begin the process of formalising their businesses. Subsequently, at the GGF offices, and briefing was held on the process of formalisation of payment vouchers authorised by SUNAT, with the aim of answering any doubts regarding the activity that would take place the following day. The talk was given by the accountant Ambar Zumaeta Pérez, an employee of the company.
Finally, on September 7th, the GGF social team accompanied the 11 villagers to the office of the National Superintendence of Customs and Administration – SUNAT in the city of Iquitos to carry out the corresponding procedures to obtain the Single Taxpayers’ Register (RUC by its Spanish acronym). As a result, the formalisation of payment vouchers was obtained by obtaining the RUC for 10 settlers and 1 Single Simplified Regime (RUS by its Spanish acronym).
