From April 20th to 22nd, Green Gold Forestry conducted the first environmental education workshop for 35 children from 3 native communities in the Marañon River basin, Loreto. In the workshop, the school children from 9 to 13 years old learned about the importance of recycling and environmental care in their daily lives through dynamic talks and hands-on workshops. Participants in the workshop included the Apus, school authorities, teachers, local people, and students from the CCNN Villa de Monte Alegre, Solteritos and Pampa Caño.

The course started with a brief environmental awareness talk for the schoolchildren, in which the 3R principles (reduce, reuse, and recycle) were explained in detail. Afterwards, the students collected plastic bottles and lids to make an ornamental plant pot and were surprised to see that different products can be made from a rubbish bottle. Finally, a recycling system was developed for the schools, which will facilitate the recycling process in the schools of the communities that participated in the workshop.

Through the implementation of environmentally friendly actions in native communities benefiting from the project “Sustainable Management of Forest Concessions”, GGF reiterates its commitment to conservation and human well-being.
