We are delighted to share the start of our research work for measuring and monitoring the impact generated by the activities that our company, GGF, has been deploying over the past few years with our partner communities along the Napo River.
The first phase of this work is being developed in partnership with the The Oxford SDG Impact Lab and we had the pleasure of hosting their representatives, Rafaela Santos and Pepe Weischer, Master’s students from the University of Oxford. Over the past 2 weeks, they have conducted extensive visits to our offices in Lima and Iquitos, as well as to our partner communities.
The goal of this first phase is to develop a framework that allows us to monitor and measure our contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically SDG8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. This framework is being designed with input from various stakeholders so that, in a later stage, it can be used to evaluate the company’s contribution to SDG 8 and the well-being of the communities.
The methodological design, as well as the field data collection tools, have been actively developed with our technical team, the Oxford SDG Lab, and our advisory team led by PhD Isabel Guerrero, professor and researcher at PUCP, and Anthony Soto, economist who graduated from the same institution.
The data collection tools have been tested in a pilot group of communities, both in a treatment group and a control group, allowing us to gather valuable economic and social information from the participating communities. In the coming months, we will proceed with tabulating and analyzing the collected information, enabling us to adjust our procedures and tools to measure and monitor our impact over the coming years.
This experience deeply enriches our team, as it will allow us to constantly improve the quality of our interventions for the benefit of our communities and the conservation of our Amazon forests.
We are grateful to the The Oxford SDG Impact Lab and everyone who has collaborated in this effort for their willingness and interest in participating in this
project. We hope that Rafaela and Pepe have also had a pleasant experience with GGF and our country!
This is just the beginning! We invite everyone to join our efforts for a greener and more sustainable future.
